In order to step up its cargo handling capacity, the Multipurpose Terminal (MTP) operating at the port of Richards Bay in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province purchased and has already taken a delivery of a new shiploader. The machine offers handling as many as 3,000 t of cargo per hour given a density of 1,900 kg per cu m.
Agency sources say, however, that the permission to use the shiploader still has to be received.
