Record number of ships expected to arrive at Ukrainian Danube ports

The Ukrainian Sea Port Authority has recently announced an anticipated increase in ship calls at the Ukrainian Danube ports. Between May 22 and May 28, a total of 91 ships are expected to arrive, compared to the previous weekly maximum of 80 vessels. Out of 91 ships, as many as 60 vessels are scheduled to dock at Izmail, 23 ships at Reni, and eight vessels at Chilia.

At the same time, the number of vessels standing in the roadstead waiting to enter the Ukrainian Danube ports has also risen on week 21. As of May 22, there were 77 vessels waiting in the roadstead (up 18 vessels compared to the previous week). The reason for such a surge is a discrepancy in ship passages through the canals in the period from May 15 to May 21. Thus, only 61 ships passed through the canals in that period, some 13 fewer than expected. Among them, 42 vessels passed through Bystre, while 19 ships went through Sulina. In terms of destinations, as many as 31 ships were heading to Izmail, 23 ships to Reni, and seven vessels to Chilia.

It should be noted that the actual berthing delays are currently ranging within 4 to 9 days.
