Shipments of agricultural products from Ukrainian deep-sea ports almost stopped between May 15 and May 21. Only 118,334 tonnes of grain were transported during that period, marking the lowest level since the beginning of the Black Sea Grain Initiative. The number of vessel departures from Ukrainian deep-sea ports also witnessed a drastic decrease - only four dry bulk ships left the ports during the period under review.

This decline can be attributed to the prolonged negotiations between Ukraine, Turkey, Russia, and the United Nations regarding the extension of the deal. Fortunately, the talks resulted in an agreement to extend the deal until July 18 . However, during negotiations, no ships calling for loading within the Black Sea Grain Initiative had been permitted to enter Ukrainian ports since May 7.

During the period from May 15 till May 21, only two bulk vessels carrying 36,806 t of agricultural products departed from Chornomorsk, while two bulkers carrying 81,534 t of agri products left Odesa. Notably, no bulkers left Pivdennyi during that period. Also, no sunflower oil tankers departed from Ukrainian deep-sea ports on week 20.

In terms of export destinations, Ukrainian agricultural products were shipped to Saudi Arabia (61,734 t of corn), Türkiye (30,000 t of corn), Morocco (19,800 t of sunflower meal), and Italy (8,800 t of wheat) during week 20.

It is important to highlight that although the Black Sea Grain Initiative deal has been extended, the Russian side continues to refuse approval for ship movements to Pivdennyi. For more detailed information, please refer to the latest updates on ISM's congestion and delays report .
