Supramax/Ultramax market subdued in Far East

The Supramax/Ultramax market looks subdued in the Far East. Players report the shortage of fresh steel requests on the market which together with increased tonnage list leaves no other choice for owners but to lower ideas. Thus, charterers are fixing such vessels around $1k daily below last week’s levels:

A carrier of 63k dwt has been chartered at $31k daily for steel transportation bss dely mid-China via Taiwan redel USG;

Brokers suggest $35k daily for Ultramax fleet bss dely Far East redel Med;

A Supramax ship can be fixed at about $24k daily bss dely Bohai Bay redel SE Asia;

On the voyage basis, carrying 45,000 t of urea from N.China to Tuticorin with 5,000c/10,000x l/d rates is estimated by ISM at $42.75/t.

With regard to CIS RVs, Supramax/Ultramax owners still get a healthy premium for such trips:

On the voyage basis, transportation of 55,000 t of coal from Vanino to Shanghai is quoted by ISM at $25.5/t with 12,000c/12,000c l/d rates.
