Asia-Pacific Panamax/Kamsarmax rates under pressure
The Panamax/Kamsarmax market has softened again in the Asia-Pacific region due to slack coal exports from Indonesia:
A Panamax vessel has been fixed at $13-14k daily bss DOP dely S.China via Indo redel Spore-Japan;
The deal for a similar ship bss DOP dely Taishan via Indo redel S.Korea is negotiated at $20k daily;
A Panamax vessel has been fixed at $16k daily bss DOP dely S.China via Indo redel India;
A Kamsarmax carrier has been chartered at $19k daily bss DOP dely CJK via Indo redel India;
Shipment of a Panamax lot of coal from Samarinda to Guangzhou is estimated by ISM at $12/t;
Transportation of 70,000 t of coal from Tarakan to Boryeong with May 7-16 laycans and 12,000c/19,000lt l/d rates is negotiated at $11.44/t;
The contract for shipment of 65,000 t of coal from Indo to WCI with mid-May laycans is rumored to have been concluded at $20/t;
The deal for transportation of a Panamax lot of coal from Indo to ECI with prompt laycans has been signed at $14.6/t.
As for coal traffic from Australia:
Kamsarmax owners are seeking to get $23-24k daily bss DOP dely CJK via E.Aus redel India;
The deal for transportation of a Panamax lot of coal from Hay Point to Vizag with late Apr-1H May laycans and 35,000shinc/20,000sshex l/d rates has been signed slightly below $28/t, which is equivalent to $20.5-21k daily bss DOP dely Qingdao via Hay Point redel Vizag.
As for Australian grain exports:
A Panamax ship has been fixed at $23k daily bss DOP dely Japan via Aus redel China;
A Kamsarmax carrier has been chartered at $25k daily bss DOP dely CJK via Aus redel PG.
