The first 35,000 tonne consignment of ultra-low volatile pulverised coal injection has been shipped from the Bluff Mine situated near Blackwater, Queensland and managed by Bowen Coking Coal Ltd, Australia’s independent metallurgical coal producer. The shipment is made under terms of the sales contract with Formosa Plastics Group, a large diversified multi-national conglomerate headquartered in Taiwan. Note that the sale was agreed under the 50:50 marketing joint venture with Bowen and M Resources, a specialist metallurgical coal trading company.

Bluff Mine (Bluff) will be the first of the Company’s assets to come into production. The mine produces a high quality Ultra Low Volatile Pulverised Coal Injection (ULVPCI) product and was operating until December 2020 when it was placed on care and maintenance due to falling coal prices. But now, when the coal prices are going up rapidly all over the world, Bowen is planning to ramp up coal production at the Bluff Mine to almost 100,000 t per month by the end of August 2022, reaching up to 1.2 mmt annual production during 4 to 6 years. Note that the fuel is meant for the supply to the global steel industry. Coal produced at the Bluff Mine is washed, loaded on rail, and transported to the RG Tanna Coal Terminal at Gladstone for export
