On the West European coal market, quotes for imported thermal coal have added nearly $40/t to $321-358/t CIF ARA due to increased pace of trade. Local importers have purchased coal steams with July and Aug shipments at rather high prices. Thus, two 50,000 t lots to be supplied in July have been bought at $417.5/t and $421/t DES ARA, while another 50,000 t stem with shipment in Aug has been purchased at $372.5/t DES ARA.
In Turkey, quotes for Russian coal have risen by $2.5/t to $170-185/t CIF, while prices from Colombian suppliers have grown by $22.5/t to $320-360/t CIF.
Australian coal prices have increased to $380-408/t FOB Newcastle ($41.5/t up), although trade has been moderate this week. Reportedly, mere 25,000 t of coal to be supplied in Sep have been sold at $408/t FOB Newcastle.
Quotes for South African coal have added $20/t to $305-345/t FOB Richards Bay. No deals have been signed this week.
